1. Pick a voice and stick to it
Decide how you’d talk to your ideal reader over coffee. Friendly? Blunt? Warm and encouraging? In 1MinEbook you set the tone up front (professional, friendly, casual or authoritative) so every chapter starts consistent.
Then read one chapter out loud. Wherever you stumble or think “I’d never say that”, rewrite the sentence the way you’d actually say it.
2. Add one personal story per chapter
Stories are the fastest way to make a chapter unmistakably yours. They don’t need to be dramatic, just specific.
- The first time you tried this and it failed.
- A client who was stuck exactly where your reader is.
- The moment the idea finally clicked for you.
3. Replace generic claims with your numbers
“Many people see results quickly” is forgettable. “My last three clients booked their first call within 9 days” is believable. Swap vague statements for specifics from your own experience wherever you can.
4. Take a side
AI drafts tend to present every option fairly. Experts don’t. Add your recommendation: “There are three ways to do this. Use the second one. Here’s why.” Readers buy books to get an answer, not a survey.
5. Cut the filler
Delete throat-clearing openers (“In today’s fast-paced world…”), repeated summaries and sentences that restate the heading. Shorter chapters feel more confident.
Search your draft for phrases like “it’s important to note”, “in conclusion” and “delve”. Most can be deleted with no loss of meaning.
6. Check every fact, name and number
You are the author, so you are responsible for accuracy. Verify statistics, prices, laws, medical or financial claims and any named tools or people. If you can’t verify something, cut it or soften it.
7. Regenerate what doesn’t fit, then edit what’s close
If a chapter misses the mark, regenerate it rather than fighting it line by line. If it’s 80% there, open it in the editor and fix the last 20% yourself. That’s the fastest path to a book you’re proud of.
