How to Price Your Ebook (Without Guessing)

Underpricing is the most common ebook mistake. Readers don’t pay for pages, they pay for the result. Here’s how to land on a price that sells and that you can feel good about.

Price the result, not the word count

A 40-page ebook that helps someone negotiate a $5,000 raise is worth more than a 300-page novel. Ask: what is reaching this result worth to my reader, and how much time does my book save them?

Typical price ranges

  • Amazon KDP: $2.99–$9.99 (the range that earns 70% royalties).
  • Practical guides sold direct: often $9–$29.
  • Professional or business playbooks: often $29–$99, especially with templates.
  • Lead magnets: free, in exchange for an email address.

Match the price to the goal

  • Want maximum reach? Price low or give it away.
  • Want profit from the book itself? Price on value and sell direct.
  • Want clients for a bigger offer? A low price or free book that leads to your coaching, course or service often earns the most overall.

Increase value with bundles

Offer tiers: the ebook alone, the ebook plus a workbook, and the ebook plus a workbook plus a short call or video. Many buyers pick the middle option, which lifts your average order value.

With 1MinEbook, a companion workbook is just another ebook in the Workbook format, created from the same topic.

Test, then raise

Start at a price you’re confident in, collect reviews and feedback, then raise it. It’s much easier to raise a price backed by happy readers than to defend a price nobody has tested.

Create the bundle, not just the book

Make the main ebook and a companion workbook from the same idea, then sell them as tiers.
